Nine drug dealers including a woman arrested in Tripura; brown sugar, heroin and Yaba tablets seized

In two separate raids, 3 drug dealers were arrested within the jurisdiction of the West Agartala police station while equal number of people were arrested by the New Capital Complex

Nine drug dealers including a woman was arrested by Tripura Police on Thursday night from different locations of the state. Police confiscated brown sugar, heroin and Yaba tablets from the arrested people.

In two separate raids, three drug dealers were arrested within the jurisdiction of the West Agartala police station while equal number of people were arrested by the New Capital Complex (NCC) police from Gowala Basti area which is just opposite to the main entrance gate to the secretariat and the Assembly building.

Jayanta Kr Das, OC West Agartala police station said, “The Ramnagar police outpost, Battala police outpost and West Agartala police station carried out raids within various locations under the jurisdiction of West Agartala police station. On the basis of secret information, the first raid was carried out in Nutannagar Cooperative area. During search one Nilkrishna Debnath was arrested after recovering eight grams brown sugar beside 50 filled vials of brown sugar. Police also seized Rs 11000 cash and two mobile phones from his possession. After spot interrogation and on the basis of his information two others of his companions were arrested from Rajnagar area. From their possession seven gram brown sugar, cash Ra 1010, around 500 empty vials and a mobile phone has been seized.”

“The arrested persons are Nilkrishna Debnath of Nutannagar, and the other two are Rolamin Mia and Alam Mia – both residents of Rajnagar. All three are under interrogation in the police station and there are possibilities of more names being disclosed by them. The market price of the seized brown sugar is between Rs 45,000 to 50,000.”

In another raid police from the NCC police station arrested three drug dealers including a woman along with eight grams of brown sugar in two cases said Sushanta Deb, OC NCC police station. He added that the market value of the seized brown sugar is approximately Rs 2 lakh.

Again in another raid on the basis of specific information in a fast food shop at bordering areas of Motinagar in Sepahijala district two persons were arrested with Yaba tablets.

Asish Dasgupta, sub-divisional police officer (SDPO) Amtali said that a police team from Amtali police station led sub inspector Sujit Rudra Paul and Rahul Das raided the fast-food shop of Dilwar Hussain at Motinagar and recovered 10 contraband packets containing around 2000 Yaba tablets worth Rs 2 lakh.

He added that the shop owner and one Nayab Ali has been arrested along with a motorcycle and an android smartphone.

Meantime, police of the Dharmanagar police station in North Tripura district arrested one drug dealer last night with heroin.

Inspector Shibu Ranjan Dey, officer incharge of Dharmanagar police station said, “On specific information under the leadership of SI Raju Bhowmik of Dharmanagar police station a house was raided last night at Nayapara Netajinagar and from the possession of one Radhamanik Halan 32 gram heroin and cash Rs 30,900. “

He added that police have taken a NDPS case against Halam who has been arrested and the drugs has been confiscated.
