Why is NDPP blaming BJP for its Lok Sabha debacle, asks Imkong L Imchen

The result of the recently concluded Lok Sabha elections came as a blow to the People’s Democratic Alliance (PDA) government particularly to Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party (NDDP) as it lost the lone Lok Sabha seat in Nagaland to the opposition.

The campaign speeches of some of the leaders have not gone down too well for its alliance partner, the Bharatiya Janata Party, where they are indirectly being blamed for losing the Lok Sabha.

Speaking to Northeast Live on this matter, senior politician and Advisor Imkong L Imchen, mincing no words, said the speeches made by NDPP MLAs during the Urban Local Body (ULB) poll campaigns was a direct accusation on BJP, to which he said was misleading the people.

Imchen further said that the BJP supported NDPP candidate as a PDA consensus candidate and that not only BJP but other political parties in the PDA also pledged their support to Dr. Chumben Murry.

He also pointed out it is the BJP that is bearing the brunt and being attacked by its own alliance partner.
Imchen said NDPP may be frustrated for losing the Lok Sabha polls going by the language they are speaking when they have a coalition government with BJP party.

He stated that NDPP and BJP are a pre poll alliance and there was an agreement that BJP will represent in Raya Sabha and NDPP in Lok Sabha so according to that agreement and understanding, Dr. Chumben Murry was nominated as a PDA consensus candidate.

Informing that the BJP had a meeting recently, he said the MLAs have also expressed their resentment that NDPP MLAs have gone too far without knowing the history and ground picture. He said they will be expressing this to the Chief Minister.

Imchen added, BJP had performed their duties and functions in action honestly although. The NDPP should introspect themselves and their performance and only after that they should utter their words.

On query whether the alliance in good terms, Imchen asserted that BJP will not speak or think like that because having a coalition government is not a matter of joke and in fact the NDPP should clarify their position about the statements made by Advisor of Labour, Employment & Skill Development and Excise, Moatoshi Longkumer and Advisor Industries & Commerce, Hekani Jakhalu.
