NSCN-IM reiterates stand on Flag and Constitution

The NSCN-IM stated on Friday stated that there is no room for compromise as far as the demand for a separate flag and constitution is concerned.

In a statement issued today, the NSCN-IM also questioned Prime Minister Narendra Modi for not implementing the Framework Agreement even after 7 years. The NSCN-IM said that any political group seeking a solution under the terms of the Indian Constitution would be repeating past mistakes.

The NSCN-IM said that the Framework Agreement was not signed in a clandestine manner. It took as many as 13 years of tough negotiations before the Government of India granted official recognition to the uniqueness of Naga history and situation.

The NSCN-IM statement added “Prime Minister Modi is still not around to implement his brainchild Framework Agreement even after more than seven years.

The NSCN-IM recalled that in the wake of the alleged delaying tactics of the government in implementing the FA, the outfit went on record to call for the Naga National Assembly on May 31, 2022, wherein a resolute stand was taken that it would never deviate from the Naga National Principle at any cost and uphold and protect the unique history.

The NSCN-IM statement added that the outfit’s stand implies that under no circumstances the core issues of the Naga National Flag and Constitution that symbolize the Naga National Identity will be compromised in the name of a Naga political solution.
