The repeal of the Nagaland Municipal Act 2001 by the 14th NLA has not gone down well with the masses.
Reportedly, a contempt of court proceeding has been filed with the Supreme Court after the Assembly on March 28 through NMA 2001 Repeal Bill 2023 initiated the process of repealing the Act.
The petition was filed by one of the counsels representing the appellants in the case taken up by the People’s Union for Civil Liberties, a senior advocate said.
Reportedly, the move to repeal the Act was done despite the case involving the NMA 2001 being still in court and therefore still sub-judice.
