Nagaland Police Intensify Checks to Prevent Influx of Illegal Immigrants

To enhance surveillance and control, 3 dedicated checking points have been established at the Dimapur Railway Station round the clock.
In response to rising concerns over illegal migration, the Nagaland Police have significantly strengthened their efforts to prevent entry of illegal migrants to the state.
The Dimapur Police have activated intensive checking of the movement of suspected illegal immigrants at various inter-state entry points and checkgates.
To enhance surveillance and control, 3 dedicated checking points have been established at the Dimapur Railway Station round the clock.
Besides, the Dimapur Police has also urged the public, NGOs and civil society organisations to contact the police control room at 70850-55050 to initiate immediate action.
Earlier, the Naga Students’ Federation (NSF) had asked the state government to implement Inner Line Permit (ILP) in 3 districts of Nagaland – Dimapur, Chümoukedima and Niuland within 14 days.
NSF president Medovi Rhi in a statement said that the federation stated that it is deeply anguished to note that despite having submitted several representations to the state government, the last communique having been made on February 28, no decisive action has been taken.
This demand was made in response to what the NSF described as a ‘grave alarm’ over the worsening crisis in Bangladesh, which has led to regional unrest and represents a threat to the Naga homeland.
The NSF said that any delay in enforcing ILP will be seen as a failure to protect the Naga people and an abdication of the government’s duty.
