Nagaland Government orders closure of all check-gates in state

The order comes following the directive of the Governor to ensure the closure of all check gates in the state.

In a massive move to curb the illegal collection of money from vehicles, the Nagaland Government has ordered the closure of all check gates except the inter-state ones.

The order comes following the directive of the Governor to ensure the closure of all check gates in the state.

A notification issued by the State Home Department directed the closure of all police check gates and check gates set up by other departments including those of the Municipal and Town Councils.

The order said that only inter-state check gates set up by the concerned departments will be allowed to operate till May 31st beyond which approval has to be taken even for the running of such check gates.

The order also directed the closure of check gates by any organization, group, or private individual.
That the government is serious about implementation of the order can be gauged from the fact that all Deputy Commissioners have been directed to obtain regular reports from Inspection teams twice every month to ascertain whether there is complete compliance.
