Hectic parleys on Naga issue in next few days; CM Rio to visit Delhi

Neiba Kronu said that the panel will now meet the NSCN-IM leadership before May 31st.

The Core Committee of the Parliamentary Committee on Naga Political issue held a crucial meeting in Kohima today.

Talking to Northeast Live after the key meet, Core Committee member secretary Neiba Kronu said that the panel will now meet the NSCN-IM leadership before May 31st.

Kronu informed that post the meeting with NSCN-IM, the Core Committee members led by Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio will visit Delhi again for a meeting with Union Home Minister Amit Shah.

As per sources, the Core Committee will have a frank talk with the NSCN-IM on the supposed Government of India’s offer on the flag and constitution.

Sources said the NSCN IM chairman Q Tuccu has issued a circular convening the emergency national assembly that will be attended by the leaders of the Tatar Hoho or the NSCN IM parliament, military wing leaders, and of course general secretary T Muivah and others.

It is now believed that New Delhi is willing to lend a reflection of the Naga statute or Yezhabo in the Indian constitution and allow the use of the Naga flag for cultural purposes.

This formula has found acceptance by most members of the core committee although the NSCN IM has not commented on it.
