The government of India’s representative for Naga political talks, AK Mishra arrived in Nagaland on Monday.
As per sources, during his weeklong visit, AK Mishra is likely to meet NSCN (IM) General Secretary Thuingaleng Muivah and other NSCN leaders at Camp Hebron. If the meeting takes place it will be the first time that negotiations on the Naga issue will be held inside the NSCN (IM) camp.
Notably, this is the second visit of AK Mishra after taking over as the interlocutor for Naga peace talks. The interlocutor will also be meeting the state government’s core committee on Naga political issue, which is headed by Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio apart from working committee of Naga National Political Groups or NNPGs.
Only a few days back the Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio, UDA Chairman TR Zeliang and a few others visited New Delhi and met with Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Prime Minister in a fresh push to the Naga Peace Process.
Reportedly they asked for a compromise formula from the center with regards to the adamant stance taken by NSCN-IM and certain others on separate flag and constitution for Nagaland for an acceptable solution to the Naga Political Issue.
