The field investigation of the S.I.T formed by the Nagaland Government is complete. The SIT is now awaiting the reports from the Central Forensic Science Labs(CFSL) in Assam and Hyderabad, after receipt of which, the final report will be submitted to the Government.

In a crucial media briefing in Kohima this evening, ADG Law and order Sandeep Tamgadge gave details of the investigation process so far.

Tamgadge informed that the SIT team has visited the crime scene multiple times and collected material evidence. Besides, statements of over 85 civilian witnesses and 36 Assam Rifles Personnel, and two injured civilians were also recorded.

Giving details of the investigation process, the ADG Law and Order informed that the SIT divided into multiple teams to cover various aspects of the probe. In the last month, the SIT team visited the crime scene multiple times and collected material evidence like ammunition. Original videos collected were also being investigated.

Tamgadge informed that the final report will be handed to the government once the ‘CFSLs’ submit their reports. It may be mentioned that forensic teams from Guwahati and Hyderabad also visited the incident site.

Responding to a query, the ADG Law and order said it was difficult to give an exact time frame of when the report will be submitted as a lot depends on the CFSL teams.
