Women’s role in Mizoram education exemplary, state can become 1st in literacy rate: Prez Kovind

The President made the comment while he was addressing a convocation ceremony of Mizoram University and was distributing medals to the students.

President Ram Nath Kovind on Thursday praised the women of Mizoram saying that they can do so much in the education sector and in terms of women empowerment.

Out of the 38 gold medals distributed during the ceremony, 23 gold medals were taken by the girl students.

Meanwhile, the President also applauded the University for having a good number of researchers who are exceptional teachers too. He said that the Campus of the University reminded him of the educational institutions of the ancient times in the country.

Moreover, President Kovind presented gold medals to 10 students of various disciplines. Governor Hari Babu Kambhampati also presented awards to 10 PhD holders and Chief Minister Zoramthanga gave them away to four Book Prize winners.

While congratulating the awardees and graduate students, Kovind wished for the students and teachers for their bright future endeavors.

The President further asserted that having bagged the second-highest literacy rate in the country, Mizoram is in a position to take the first position in the country.

The President was delivering an address to the students and faculties of Mizoram University (MZU) on the occasion of its 16th Convocation.

Lauding the state for its beauty, Kovind said that Mizoram is a beautiful state with a good environment. The state is blessed with natural resources with a wide variety of flora and fauna. 

The practice of free honking and the beautiful traffic system of the state is memorable. He has complimented Mizoram, Tripura, and Sikkim for banning Plastic use.
