Two held with nearly 200 grams heroin in Mizoram

Department officials seized 69.9 grams of heroin from the possession of a 32-year-old Myanmar national at Serchhip town yesterday

The war against the never-ending illegal drug trade continues in Mizoram. Two persons, including a Myanmar national, were arrested for possession of heroin at two separate locations in Mizoram, the state excise and narcotics department informed yesterday.

Acting on a tip-off, department officials seized 69.9 grams of heroin from the possession of a 32-year-old Myanmar national at Serchhip town yesterday, the statement said.

In another operation, the department also seized 123 grams of heroin in east Mizoram’s Champhai district on Tuesday. A 24-year-old man from Champhai town had been arrested for possessing contraband.
