Sensation at border village of Hmawngbuchhuah in southern Mizoram's Lawngtlai district. Man kidnapped by 3-armed miscreants.

Big story from Mizoram… A Mog community member has been allegedly kidnapped by three unidentified armed miscreants from the border village of Hmawngbuchhuah in southern Mizoram’s Lawngtlai district. As per inputs, the incident took place on Monday night.

The victim has been identified as Rachathaimo (30).

Rachathaimo just married on Sunday, and the newlyweds were invited to a dinner on Monday by the groom’s elder sister, according to Lawngtlai District Police sources.

Rachathaimo was abducted while he was returning home after dinner at his elder sister’s house, police sources added.

Rachathaimo, according to the residents of Hmawngbuchhuah, was taken by the kidnappers from Hmawngbuchhuah to Laitlang village, from which they crossed the border into Chin state of Myanmar the same evening.

However, Mizoram police have not ruled out the involvement of the Arakan Army (AA), an ethnic insurgent group operating in both Rakhine state and Chin state, as no villagers accosted them while walking a long way to reach the Myanmar border.

The victim was originally from Tripura and was with the Buddhist priests in Guwahati before coming to Mizoram for his wedding ceremony.

The police, with the help of the local people have been conducting a massive search for the abducted person.
