The Mizoram government has assured a delegation of MPs and MLAs from Myanmar taking shelter in Aizawl stating that it fully stands by their side during their stay in Mizoram.
This comes after Mizoram Chief Minister Lalduhoma met central leaders including Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah, wherein he was assured that the Myanmar refugees will not be pushed back until situation normalizes in the conflict ravaged neighbouring nation.
Presently taking refuge at the Youth Hostel in Aizawl’s Luangmual area MLA Lalmuanpuia Punte who is also the Political Advisor to Chief Minister Laduhoma, assured the safety of the Myanmar nationals.
Punte further informed the Myanmarese politicians that Chief Minister Lalduhoma had also extended his full support to Myanmarese seeking asylum in Mizoram.

It may be mentioned here that chief minister Laduhoma recently met Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah and apprised them of the refugee situation in Mizoram.
Home Minister Amit Shah, had assured Chief Minister Laduhoma that the refugees from conflict-hit Myanmar, who have taken shelter in Mizoram, would not be deported till the situation in the neighbouring country improves.
CM Lalduhoma who returned from the national capital on Saturday spoke to Northeast Live and said, ““There is apprehension in the minds of the refugees that if these biometric identification is done, it means they are going to be departed. That fear was discussed with the Home Minister.
The Union Home Minister has given me an assurance that they will not be pushed back until and unless normalcy returns to their country. That assurance is given by the Home Minister and today also as the Chief Minister I give that assurance to the refugees, they will stay with us as long as necessary and that they should have any apprehension.”
