Mizoram Assembly Polls: State Election Commission says state has over 8.38 voters

Female voters outnumbered their male counterparty by 24,545 with the female voters at 4,31,292 and the male voters at 4,06,747.

Ahead of the Assembly elections scheduled for later this year, Mizoram Election Commission on Wednesday released the draft electoral rolls and said that the state has 8,30,039 voters.

Female voters outnumbered their male counterparty by 24,545 with the female voters at 4,31,292 and the male voters at 4,06,747.

Aizawl district has the largest number of voters at 2,81,192 while southern Mizoram’s Hnahthial district has a mere 15,875 voters. Hnahthial district comprised of only one assembly constituency – South Tuipui.

There are 5,021 service voters which included 89 women voters.

According to the state election department, at present there are 1,276 polling stations across the state.

Election department officials said that the final publication of the state voters’ list would be released on October 4 while the process of enrolment will continue till the election to the 40-member state assembly is held by November or early December.

The state’s electoral roll, to be published on October 4, will be used for the coming state assembly polls.
