‘Faith, trust will play significant role in permanent solution’, Mizo CM on border issue

Chief Minister Zoramthanga said that he would likely be meeting Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma by September.
Mizoram Chief Minister Zoramthaga has stated that the building of faith and trust will play the most significant role in finding a permanent solution to the border disputes.
Speaking exclusively to Northeast Live, Chief Minister Zoramthanga said that the border talks between Assam and Mizoram are moving forward in a positive direction and that both state governments are working to find a lasting solution to the border issue.
Further, speaking about the strategy to resolve the border issue, Chief Minister Zoramthanga said that like other states, the border issue between Mizoram and Assam will be also solved from areas where differences are comparatively less, and subsequently move towards the complex ones.
Chief Minister Zoramthanga said that he would likely be meeting Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma by September.
It may be mentioned here thatthe Assam delegation led by ministers Atul Bora and Ashok Singhal met Mizoram Chief Minister Zoramthanga this morning.
During the meeting, Chief Minister Zoramthanga also held a telephonic conversation with Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma.
After meeting Mizoram Chief Minister Zoramthanga, the Assam delegation led by ministers Ashok Singhal and Atul Bora held a meeting with Central YMA officials in the Governor’s House.
It may also be mentioned here that Assam and Mizoram released a joint statement wherein both states agreed to resolve the border dispute amicably and maintain peace along the border.
Besides, it was also decided that DCs of border areas will meet at least once in 2 months. It was also agreed that economic activities and cultivation will continue along the interstate border.
The next high-level meeting of the two states will be held in Guwahati in October.
