Displaced person from Manipur dies of electrocution in Mizoram

A 39-year-old internally displaced person from Manipur died on Monday morning due to electrocution at Sihpir village, 15 kilometres north of Aizawl in Mizoram.
As per Police, Lammuanthang was electrocuted when he was trying to mend the leaking roof of his rented house.
Lammuanthang and his 5-month pregnant wife, Nemngaihliani, were one of over 12,000
IDPs (Internally Displaced persons) taking shelter in Mizoram due to ethnic strife in Manipur.
The deceased’s body was taken to the office of the central committee of the Young Mizo Association (YMA) in the southern part of the capital, Aizawl City, where a simple religious ceremony was held.
Lammuanthang’s body, laid in a coffin, has been sent to Kanan neighbourhood in Lamka town, where a Christian funeral and burial will be held on Tuesday.
The YMA general headquarters is bearing all the expenses of the body’s transportation from Aizawl to Lamka.
The YMA general headquarters is being used as a transit camp for displaced persons from Manipur.
