Crackdown on drugs in Mizoram: 4 arrested including 2 women
Stepping up the crackdown on drug menace in Mizoram, Law enforcement of Monday apprehended as many as 4 drug peddlers including two women, during drug raids in Champhai and Lunglei.
Stepping up the crackdown on drug menace in Mizoram, Law enforcement of Monday apprehended as many as 4 drug peddlers including two women, during drug raids in Champhai and Lunglei.
In Champhai district, based on specific input, Special Narcotics Police team seized 1 lakh tablets of suspected methamphetamine, weighing over 9 Kilos estimated to be worth over Rupees 30 Crores in the international market. The Drugs were seized from a woman identified as Tuanremi at the Vaivakawn, Zohnuai, Sairang Road.
Moreover, earlier in the day 3 drug peddlers, including a woman was arrested in south Mizoram’s Lunglei district for possessing heroin worth over Rs 6 lakh. Acting on a tip off, officials of excise and narcotics department as well as volunteers of Young Mizo Association jointly launched the operation and intercepted a vehicle in an area between Pukpui and Zotlang villages in Lunglei district. 234 grams of heroin worth Rs 5.95 lakh in the local market were recovered from the vehicle.
The peddlers identified as Vanlaldiki from Aizawl, Nathanaela and Lalramenga both from Champhai district, have been arrested in connection with the seizure.
