A crucial meeting between Assam and Mizoram over the vexed border dispute issue is set to take place today.

The meeting is set to take place at 5 pm in Guwahati.

Assam Cabinet Minister Atul Bora and Mizoram Minister Lalruatkima will take part in today’s meeting.

Meanwhile, another meeting on the border issue will be held tomorrow at 11 am.

Noteworthy here is that the border dispute between Assam and Mizoram is regarding 501 square miles of area along with the border.

The border issue between both states flared up during the violence that took place at Lailapur in July last year that led to the death of six police personnel from Assam.

Noteworthy here is that the Mizoram and Assam delegations had met in August last year to find a lasting solution to the vexed border issue after a violent clash.

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and Mizoram Chief Zoramthanga also engaged in talks in November last year and this was followed by another meeting this year in August.
