Mizoram is celebrating the state’s biggest and most important festival ‘Chapchar Kut’ or ‘Kut Pa’ at Aizawl.
On the second day of the festival today, there were many cultural performances and folk songs that recollected Mizo history and customs.
“Cheraw” (bamboo) and “Chawnglaizawn” dances were performed by more than 90 YMA branches.
“Chhawnghnawh”, a pre-Christian custom of feeding boiled eggs to each other was also revived during the event.
Chief Minister Zoramthanga, Mizoram Legislative Assembly Speaker Lalrinliana Sailo, tourists from Myanmar, and Bangladesh, Business20 delegates and other tourists from India and abroad attended the cultural events.
Addressing the people CM Zoramthanga has called upon the Mizo people to start a new beginning for the unification of all Mizo tribes living in different parts of India and the world and expressed his hope that the festival would unite everyone.
The Chief Minister urged the Mizos across the globe to unite to achieve the festival’s theme ‘Zofate inpumkhatna’ (Unification of the Zo people).
The CM also expressed his appreciation to the ambassadors of G20 for joining the celebration and further invited them to visit again in the future to celebrate the event.
He also extended an invitation to the refugees from Bangladesh and Myanmar to the state’s largest celebration.
He further stated that the cooperation between the people and the state government in hosting the B20 meeting and Chapchar Kut in the state is truly admirable.
