Continuous threats by various insurgent groups to journos have led to this big development. Decrying such threats, a joint emergency general body meeting of the All Manipur Working Journalists’ Union (AMWJU), Editors’ Guild Manipur (EGM) and Manipur Hills Journalists’ Union (MHJU) was held in Imphal. It was in this meeting, the decision to cease work was taken.
The meeting also decided to hold a sit-in against the threats and intimidations on Wednesday at Keishampat and later convene a meeting with CSOs and women groups for their intervention into the matter.
