The three ticket aspirants today handed over their applications to Meghalaya BJP president Rikman G Momin

Amid speculations as to whom the BJP will chose to contest the Lok Sabha election from the Shillong and Tura Lok Sabha seats, three ticket aspirants for the Tura seat in Garo Hills have filed their application to state BJP president Rikman G Momin today.

The three ticket aspirants are former Tura MDC Bernard Marak, Thomas Marak- a BJP candidate in the last assembly election from the Songsak constituency and former Garo Hills Autonomous District Council (GHADC) CEM Boston Marak.

Bernard Marak in his application stated, “In Garo Hills, people consider me as the face of BJP and may have joined on the faith that BJP can uplift the society in myriad ways. BJP is gaining ground because there is a political revolution for corruption free governance. If given a ticket to represent BJP, I am sure that people will support me and vote for BJP over other parties in Garo Hills.”

For the Congress, only Saleng Sangma has expressed interest in fighting the upcoming election on a Congress ticket with the other likely contender, Deborah Marak pulling out of the race.

If sources are to be believed, Saleng’s name has already been approved by the Congress central team which will make him one of the biggest contenders in the fight for the Tura MP election seat where the numbers are likely to remain very small.
