Union Minister Mansukh Mandaviya inaugurates Undergrad Medical College, Regional Cancer Centre at NEIGRIHMS

In an effort to improve and provide quality healthcare facilities to the people of Meghalaya, Union Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya inaugurated the Undergraduate Medical College (UGMC) and Regional Cancer Centre (RCC) at NEIGRIHMS on Saturday.
UGMC will help in imparting medical education using state-of-the-art technologies, and RCC will provide comprehensive cancer care.
The Union Minister also inaugurated the virtual autopsy facility at NEIGRIHMS. It is one of the most advanced and sophisticated facilities available only at a few centers in the country.
Other facilities inaugurated by the minister are medical colleges and hostels, nursing colleges and hostels, modular operation theaters, and a new guest house.
Earlier, NEIGRIHMS director, Prof. Nalin Mehta, said the undergrad medical college and hostels, a 350-bed cancer center, eight state of the art modular operation theaters, and 150 critical care blocks to deal with COVID-like situations will address the health deficiencies in the region.
The union minister said the facilities will help the residents of the state take medical care within the state without going out.
He pointed out that the Prime Minister has taken keen initiatives to improve the health facilities in every nook and cranny of the country.
