Two prominent teachers’ organizations of Meghalaya have set a deadline for the State Government till May for fulfilling their demands.

The Meghalaya Upper Primary School Teachers Association or MUPSTA and the Federation of All School Teachers of Meghalaya or FASTOM have given the state government a deadline till May to increase the salaries of ad hoc school teachers in the state.

Talking to the media, the President of MUPSTA and FASTOM, Kenneth Shadap said that there will be no agitation from their side in the months of April and May. However, Shadap also said that they will intensify their agitation if their demands are not met by the first week of June.

Kenneth Shadap further said that they have received a Government assurance of examining their demand. However, if their demands are not met by the stipulated time, they will decide on their next course of action in the first week of June through a convention.
