Scientific coal mining only way to protect environment, people: Meghalaya BJP leader Al Hek

BJP leader Al Hek, today, asserted that scientific coal mining is the only way to protect the environment and people of Meghalaya.
Speaking to Northeast Live, Hek said, “Scientific coal mining is the only way to protect the environment and the lives of the people of the state. The economy will also grow at a faster rate than if we practice traditional coal mining.”

Hek emphasised that the main issue that the BJP will highlight in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections will be that of development.

“Main issue is development. Meghalaya is in need of development in sports infrastructure, road communication, health infrastructure and many other sectors. At the same time we need employment of the youth, both employed and unemployed youth should at least get an opportunity to get jobs in the state of Meghalaya through avenues that the government provides,” he said.

Speaking on the issue of job reservation Hek said that this has been going on for decades and will continue to do so.

He added that BJP is working 24/7 for the 2024 polls and is confident of a good showing.
