Is Meghalaya bracing for a change in the political dynamics? Such are the speculations as the state Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) feels that leaders from other parties are on the verge of jumping ship to the Saffron Party.
Briefing media, Meghalaya BJP president Ernest Mawrie informed that at least four to five MLAs from other parties have sent feelers to join his party.
Mawrie added that in the next six months a lot of political changes and developments will occur. He believes that the BJP is growing from strength to strength in Meghalaya.
Meanwhile, the BJP which is a coalition partner in the Meghalaya Democratic Alliance (MDA) has questioned the alleged delay in completing the local audit ordered to look into the allegations of misutilization of central funds in the Garo Hills Autonomous District Council and the Jaintia Hills Autonomous District Council.
Mawrie added that he would raise the issue with Chief Minister Conrad Sangma to expedite the probe into the irregularities.
