Meghalaya: Heroin worth Rs 1 crore recovered

The Meghalaya Police have waged a War Against Drugs. With consecutive recoveries of contraband in last 2 days, police is on full alert.

The Meghalaya Police is on full alert to curb the menace of drugs menace.

Based on specific intelligence inputs, the East Khasi Hills police apprehended a notorious drugs peddler.

Although the drugs peddler tried to trick the joint team of police and Anti-Narcotics Task Force, but alert police personnel nabbed him while trying to evade.

Upon frisking, 16 boxes of heroin worth Rs 1 crore was recovered from the two-wheeler borne drugs peddler. Besides Rs 3.32 lakh cash and 1 mobile phone was seized from the drugs peddler.

Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad Sangma lauded DGP LR Bishnoi and the Meghalaya Police as a whole for the full-scale war waged against drugs.

This is the 2nd consecutive recovery of such a huge quantity of drugs in the state.

Earlier, late Sunday night, the police intercepted a vehicle ML-05S-9485 in Ri Bhoi and upon frisking recovered 74 boxes of heroin worth Rs 4.8 crore.
