Meghalaya’s Khri River Poisioned?

A shocking incident of fish poisoning has been reported from Meghalaya. Reports have come in that some miscreants have poisoned the Khri River in Meghalaya’s West Ri Bhoi District on May 11.

The incident came to light after the locals of Western Ri Bhoi found dead Cat fish weighing 80 kilograms. Along with the big fish, many more small fish were also found dead in the Khri River.

Police sources from Patharkhmah Police Outpost stated that few individuals from different villages under Western Ri Bhoi allegedly poisoned the river by using a local poison called ‘Kharu’ to kill the fish.

As per reports, the police team also seized three packets of the poison ‘Kharu,” which was allegedly used for poisoning the river.

The police are investigating the matter and have summoned a few local residents for questioning.
Meanwhile, a video of two men trying to lift the 80-kg fish has gone viral.
