The demand for equal reservation for Khasi, Jaintia and Garo communities seems to be gaining momentum in Meghalaya.
A signature campaign was held in Shillong today by some like minded youths to press for a relook at the existing reservation policy.
The signature campaign led by Barry Pyngrope urged the government to have a holistic approach to the reservation set up to ensure deserving candidates reap the benefits irrespective of the tribe they belong to.
Pyngrope said that through the signature campaign she demands the State government to have a relook into the reservation policy which she termed as obsolete.
It may be mentioned that an organization from Garo Hills called the Achik Holistic Awakening Movement had yesterday urged the government to maintain status quo on the reservation policy.
