Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad Sangma today said that the state will become one of India’s top 10 states in terms of GDP per capita income and achievement of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by 2032.
Speaking on the occasion of Independence Day at Polo Ground, Shillong, CM Sangma shared his dream of aiming to create a Meghalayan Decade within the Meghalayan Age, which he referred to as ‘Meghalaya 2032 Vision’.
CM Sangma said that Meghalaya in the 10-year period of 2022 to 2032 would see the emergence of the state as one of India’s Top 10 states in GDP per capita income and achievement of Sustainable Development Goals.
CM Sangma also outlined his vision for the state’s economic and social progress over this period.
The Chief Minister also announced the release of a vision document titled “Meghalaya at 60”, which he released on Wednesday and is now available in public domain.
Sangma asked everyone to actively engage in the process and express their hopes and opinions for Meghalaya in 2032.
In addition to aiming to put Meghalaya among the top 10 states in the country in 10 years, the document offers 10 essential guarantees such as– road connectivity, water and power supplies, housing, social security, affordable healthcare, high-quality education, internet and telecom services, doorstep service delivery, and community infrastructure like playgrounds and community halls.
“The Meghalaya of 2032 is not just the government’s 10-year target. It is a vision for our collective future,” he said.
