In a big breakthrough, the Crime Branch of Meghalaya Police has arrested the founder of the anonymous group Lawei Bah Phyrnai which has been issuing terror threats to the state government besides detaining two other individuals.
However, close to 24 hours since the arrest the Meghalaya government is yet to reveal the identity of the arrested and detained persons.
Meghalaya Home Minister Lahkmen Rymbui informed that the mystery man behind the terror threats is a resident of Shillong. Rymbui added that the police are trying to find out whether more people are involved with the group.
As per further inputs, no arms or ammunition have been recovered from the arrested person and only hardware and software used to send the mails have been seized.
The Lawei Bah Phyrnai, which created sensation by threatening to bomb educational institutions in Shillong starting the first week of May, had also demanded the release of ex-HNLC leader and former MLA Julius Dorphang.
In its last email, the anonymous group had warned that if Dorphang was not released immediately, it would blow up a primary school.
Earlier, the anonymous terror group had threatened to bomb the office of the Meghalaya Board of School Education besides the St. Anthony’s School and College in Shillong and even the NEHU or North-Eastern Hill University.
