Meghalaya: MDA allies to meet on May 11, boundary issue top agenda

Furthermore, political development will start to heat up in the State in the wake of the BJP President’s ‘post-July statement’.

The NPP-led MDA coalition is all set for its MDA coordination committee meeting which is likely to be held on May 11, as confirmed by the State BJP Chief Ernest Mawrie where the status of the interstate boundary dispute is expected to top the discussion.

Speaking to the media, Mawrie said that the CM will likely fix the date on May 11 and he will call all-party presidents to attend the MDA coordination committee meeting. The BJP chief also said that he will raise issues of the ongoing pending inquiries including other pressing issues.

When asked about the implementation of central schemes in the State, Earnest Mawrie informed that a formal report on the matter is awaiting.

Furthermore, political development will start to heat up in the State in the wake of the BJP President’s ‘post-July statement’.

Mawrie made a big statement that some MLAs want to join the BJP however, that will materialize post-July because of the anti-defection law.

He further informed that the four MLAs had sent feelers a long time ago and that it was too early to disclose any names.

Interestingly, Mawrie also revealed that other MLAs were approached by BJP leaders and that they are welcome to join the party fold with the door always open.

Meanwhile, on reports about the BJP leaders & MLAs looking for greener pasture elsewhere, he said, “This is not true and we are intact. The party is united and they will contest from BJP ticket only”.
