Meghalaya Govt should not succumb to Harijan committee’s demands: Saleng Sangma

Sangma termed the Harijan issue a “small matter” and said that is not at all a new issue.

NCP Meghalaya president Saleng Sangma has said that the State Government should not succumb to the demands of the Harijan Panchayat Committee which has demanded around 9-10 acres of land in the European ward for their relocation.

Sangma termed the Harijan issue a “small matter” and said that is not at all a new issue.

Furthermore, Sangma said that when the government can resolve contentious issues like boundary disputes with Assam, it should not have any major problem in resolving the Harijan issue as well.

According to Sangma, the State Government should just follow the directives of the judiciary on the matter and added that the staff of the Government who are to be relocated should be relocated properly for which the Government is already making provisions.

Meanwhile, speaking to media persons, Saleng Sangma said that the Government of Meghalaya has not succumbed before Assam while discussing the long-pending boundary dispute and while applying the same yardstick, it should not succumb before the HPC demands as well.
