To further improve the education sector, Sangma said that Meghalaya will soon have its own curriculum and textbooks, which will be consistent with the rest of the country

With the implementation of National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, the Meghalaya government is focusing on the digitalisation of the education system in the state.

Meghalaya Education Minister Rakkam A. Sangma said the state government is looking at the option of digitalising the text books, however, he said that the hard copies of the books will still be available.

Sangma noted that in the last few years, the government has distributed tablets to many of the students, and this year many smart classes have been installed, and many more will be introduced, including smart training rooms to upgrade the teaching and learning process of the students.

He also highlighted the project ‘Ka Lawei’, a unique program that has been implemented in the East Jaintia Hills, Meghalaya, under which many smart classrooms, smart boards, and TVs have already been introduced in many of the schools in the district.

To further improve the education sector, Sangma said that Meghalaya will soon have its own curriculum and textbooks, which will be consistent with the rest of the country.

To review the content of the text book, the state education department has constituted a textbook review committee, which will soon meet to decide on the text book, content, and syllabus for education in the state.

The committee will ensure that the curriculum that is followed in the schools of Meghalaya will be at par with the national standard.
