The Meghalaya government has directed all the respective district administrations to keep a tab on the number of displaced people entering the state from violence affected Manipur.
Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong said that the district councils too have been informed about this and directed to do the needful.
Tynsong said,”We have instructed all the district administrations to be ready to update themselves on how many people reach our state in different places and how many days they have been here and when they are going back.”
The Meghalaya deputy chief minister also responded about reports saying that residents from Manipur who are staying in Meghalaya from quite sometime are facing issues with the local administrations to verify as to when they had entered the state.
Prestone Tynsong said,”Those aggrieved parties if they have such problems the door is always open they can come and meet me or meet the CM or cabinet ministers, we are here.”
Earlier, Meghalaya opposition party Voice of the People Party (VPP) had asked the state government to keep a proper record on the displaced persons who sought refuge in Meghalaya in view of the violence in Manipur.
