Except for Shillong and Tura, the load shedding hours in the rest of the state will be brought down to 3 hours
The Meghalaya government has decided to reschedule the load shedding hours in the state with effect from September 1. Under the new schedule that starts tomorrow, electricity in Tura and Shillong won’t be available from 1 AM to 3 AM. For the rest of the state the hours of power cut will be brought down to 3 hours.
Meghalaya Power Minister AT Mondal said that the decision to reschedule the timings for load shedding is a temporary one. As per AT Mondal the load shedding hours for Shillong and Tura will remain the same.
He said, “We have some problem, due to that this rescheduling has been done, that is temporary. It has been done because one of the transformers is out of service in the Ganesh Das Hospital area. So, during day time because of this there is a fluctuation. We thought during the night we will compensate with that. We have decided that the hours of load shedding in Shillong, Tura will remain 2 hours, but from September 1 we will be rescheduling it from 1AM to 3 AM and rest of the state it will be brought down to 3 hours now.”
On July 18, the Meghalaya Government had decided to reduce the load shedding hours to to 2 hours in Shillong, Tura and Jowai, but in the rest of the state the load shedding hours was fixed at 5 hours. The decision was taken after the water level of Umiam reservoir had improved.
