Meghalaya: Body of missing junior engineer found floating in the Umiam River

The deceased has been identified as Ron Cooper Massar, a resident of Umroi Jaiawpdeng, Ri Bhoi District.

In a tragic incident, the body of a 54-year-old man who was reportedly missing since yesterday has been found floating in the Umiam River at Umroi Nongrah, Ri Bhoi District of Meghalaya on Tuesday.

The deceased has been identified as Ron Cooper Massar, a resident of Umroi Jaiawpdeng, Ri Bhoi District. Massar was a government employee, working as a Junior Engineer in Water Conservation, Shillong.

As per inputs, Massar was reported missing since Monday around 4:00 AM from his residence when he had gone for a morning jog. After several hours of him missing, his relatives filed a complaint at Umroi Police Investigation Centre (PIC) on May 20.

On Tuesday morning, his body was discovered in the Umiam River. 

Following the incident, the police have initiated an investigation in connection with the matter.

Police also informed that the body has been shifted to Nongpoh Civil Hospital for a post-mortem examination to ascertain the actual cause of death.
