Make Garo, Jaintia Hills’ audit report public by May: Meghalaya BJP

The Meghalaya BJP has mounted pressure on the Conrad Sangma government that it must make the audit report of the Garo Hills Autonomous District Council (GHADC) and the Jaintia Hills

The Meghalaya BJP has mounted pressure on the Conrad Sangma government that it must make the audit report of the Garo Hills Autonomous District Council (GHADC) and the Jaintia Hills Autonomous District Council (JHADC) public.

Unhappy with the alleged delay in making the report public, Meghalaya BJP president Ernest Mawrie demanded that the government must do so by May failing which his party will initiate it’s own action.

MP Mawrie feels that despite repeated appeals, the government has been unable to do so.

Earlier, the state BJP had demanded a CBI enquiry into the alleged misappropriation of crores of rupees sanctioned under the SAG to the JHADC and GHADC, but the state government ordered an audit of the GHADC finances for five years from 2015 to 2020.

Mawries had demanded an CBI probe into the alleged that funds, allocated under the special assistance grant for the development of under-developed areas, were misappropriated in the name of “ghost” bridges and footpaths and to carry out repair works of official buildings, guest houses, etc.
