Meanwhile, NPP officials confirmed that disciplinary action is being initiated against Raksamgre MLA, Benedict R Marak.
In a big development from Meghalaya ahead of the 2023 general elections, NPP National President and Chief Minister Conrad Sangma stated that disciplinary action will be taken against one or two NPP MLAs for being in talks with other parties.
The Chief Minister made this statement while reacting to the claim by Leader of the Opposition AITC, Dr Mukul Sangma that many of the NPP MLAs are looking for greener pastures and are burdened with anti-incumbency factors.
Meanwhile, NPP officials confirmed that disciplinary action is being initiated against Raksamgre MLA, Benedict R Marak.
To a query whether all the sitting NPP MLAs be given tickets in the 2023 polls, Chief Minister Conrad responded that an election committee will work for the tickets and it is not with him to say though he is the president of the party, Conrad added, in the end, there is a process and that process has to be followed and move forward.
Replying to yet another query about whether his wife, Mehtab Chandee will be contesting the polls, he said that he has no clue about it and it is something that is for her to decide, and as and when she applies for the ticket he will see.
