Candlelight vigil by doctors and staff of Bethany Hospital, Nongpoh demanding Justice for RG Kar Hospital rape and murder victim

In a powerful display of solidarity and outrage, doctors, nurses, and staff of Bethany Hospital Nongpoh, Meghalaya, along with the hospital management, have strongly condemned the recent murder and rape of a trainee doctor at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital in Kolkata. The staff have called for the immediate arrest and punishment of those responsible for this heinous crime.

The tragedy has sparked a wave of grief and indignation across the healthcare community. To express their condolences and solidarity, the staff of Bethany Hospital held a candlelight vigil, mourning the loss and supporting the victim’s family. The hospital management emphasized that this heinous act is a grave violation of human dignity and called it a sad and unacceptable incident.

The healthcare professionals are demanding that the law enforcement agencies act promptly to arrest all those involved in the murder and rape of the doctor. They stressed that such crimes are unacceptable and pose a serious threat to the safety and respect for individuals in the medical field.

The call for justice reflects a broader concern about the rising incidents of violence against healthcare workers and the need for stronger protective measures.

The Bethany Hospital Nongpoh community stands in solidarity with the victim’s family and all those affected by this tragic event, urging for a safer environment for medical professionals nationwide, they said.

In response to a call from the Indian Medical Association (IMA) to protest the horrific rape and murder of a trainee medical student in Kolkata, all outpatient departments (OPDs) and elective surgeries in government, private, and corporate hospitals across the country stands suspended today.
