BJP leader Himalaya M Shangpliang wants to join NPP: Sniawbhalang Dhar

Dhar informed that the NPP is likely to finalise the name of the candidate for the Shillong Parliamentary seat by September end
Amidst the rumour that former Mawsynram legislator and BJP leader Himalaya M Shangpliang will be joining the NPP, the National People’s Party (NPP) leader and Deputy Chief Minister Sniawbhalang Dhar said that the BJP leader has expressed his willingness to join the party ahead of the Lok Sabha elections next year.
Dhar told Northeast Live, “He (Himalaya M. Shangpliang) has expressed his desire to join the party. He is most welcome if he wants to join the party. The selection of the candidate will be discussed accordingly in the party itself.”
The party ticket for the Shillong parliamentary seat is yet to be decided.
Further, Dhar said that many candidates have shown interest in joining the NPP, adding that they will select the best candidate after consultation with the party.
He also informed that the NPP is likely to finalise the name of the candidate for the Shillong Parliamentary seat by September end.
The NPP has decided to again field sitting Tura MP Agatha Sangma in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
