Warjri said this in reply to a question which was asked to him in the backdrop of reports stating that two People’s Democratic Party (PDF) MLAs are likely to join
HSPDP MLA and a minister in the Conrad Sangma Cabinet, Shakliar Warjri has dismissed reports stating that he and another party MLA will be jumping ship to join the NPP.
When asked to clarify as to what is the actual position, Warjri said, “I have no idea. But there is actually nothing as such from our side, from both the MLAs, from the party there is nothing as such.”
The question to Warjri was asked in the backdrop of reports stating that two People’s Democratic Party (PDF) MLAs are likely to join the NPP. According to reports, the two PDF MLAs – Banteidor Lyngdoh and Gavin Mylliemngap would soon NPP and the process is already underway.
Worth mentioning that members of at least three tribe-based organisations in Meghalaya had asked the HSPDP MLAs to leave the NPP camp headed by Conrad Sangma.
They mounted pressure on the two MLAs — Methodius Dkhar and Shakliar Warjri — by staging a protest in Meghalaya’s capital Shillong, a day after Mr. Sangma claimed the support of 32 MLAs in the 60-member Assembly.
The two were also allegedly intimidated when miscreants tried to set fire to the office of a firm owned by Dkhar.
