Proud moment for Manipur: 2 Coast Guard officers become Commandants

It is reported that the two officers are presently holding key appointments as Staff officers to important Flag Officers on ICG.

In a proud moment for Manipur, two Indian Coast Guard officers from the state have been promoted to full Commandant rank in their first year of reaching eligibility years of fifteen years in the service.

It is reported that the two officers are presently holding key appointments as Staff officers to important Flag Officers on ICG.

On promotion to full Commandant, the officers will be appointed in different capital ships as Executive Officers.

Commandant S Kholing Lawrence son of Late S Somi is from Kasom Khullen Village under Kamjong district and Commandant Ngamlien Touthang, son of Lunkholet Touthang hails from Molkon Village in Saikul under Kangpokpi District.

Commandant S Kholing Lawrence joined Indian Navy as Short Service Commission Officer in 2006. The officer was in the Submarine Arm of the Indian Navy and specialized in Signal Communication and Electronic Warfare.

Post completion of his engagement in the Indian Navy, he was absorbed into the Indian Coast Guard in 2018 with the rank of Commandant.

On the other hand, Commandant Ngamlien Touthang joined Indian Coast Guard as Assistant Commandant in 2006.

He is a recipient of the Tatrakshak Medal for Gallantry, ABP News Bravery Award, and DG ICG Commendation for his outstanding performance in various appointments in the past. He was also a recipient of the DGICG Trophy for best under trainee Assistant Commandant during his training days.
