Illegally grown poppy plants destroyed in Manipur

Extending support to Chief Minister Biren Singh’s clarion call on the ‘War on Drugs’, the village authority council of Tumuyon Khullen village along with the members of Village Youth Club

Extending support to Chief Minister Biren Singh’s clarion call on the ‘War on Drugs’, the village authority council of Tumuyon Khullen village along with the members of Village Youth Club have destroyed large scale illegal cultivation of poppy within their jurisdiction in Manipur’s Senapati district, thereby taking up the cudgel against drug menace.

Secretary of Tumuyon Khullen Village Authority Council, RK Lovingson said that the village authority council had been taking such initiative and so far destroyed poppy plantations amounting to Rs 45-50 crore in the international market.

The Secretary of the village authority council said that the locals of the Tumuyon village would continue to extend their full support to State Government’s war against drugs.

RK. Lovingson urged all to make the state free from drugs in order to save the future of the younger generations.

Lovingson further stated that the village authority had been organising awareness drive on the menace of illegal poppy cultivation.

Meanwhile, a letter was handed over to Chief Minister N Biren Singh by the Chairman of the Village Authority Council through DC Kangpokpi, stating that villagers will act as driving force in its war against drugs.
