"The government is doing its best to bring a solution," said NPF.

A day after the National People’s Party (NPP) pulled out of the Biren Singh-led Manipur government, the Naga People’s Front (NPF) today reiterated its support to Biren Singh and his government and condemned the recent gruesome killing of 6 individuals including 3 children in Jiribam district by armed miscreants calling it a tragic incident.

Addressing a press conference in Imphal, Minister of Water Resources, Relief, and Disaster Management and Manipur NPF president Awangbow Newmai said, “We are one of the longest and older NDA partners and at this juncture, withdrawing from the government does not arise, we have to work together to bring a solution.”

Condemning the killing of 3 children, one as young as just 10-months-old, and 3 women, one a 60-year-old, all from the same family in Jiribam, Newmai said, “We all understand it is rooted to different issues which the government is trying to find a solution but unfortunately violence continues and after a gap of two 3 months, some unknown miscreants attacked in some houses, individuals and lately, innocent women and children were kidnapped and mercilessly killed.”

“The government is doing its best to bring a solution. Soon after knowing about the kidnapping of the 3 women and 3 children in Jiribam on November 11, the government put its best efforts possible to rescue them, but failed to rescue them alive,” he added.

The party urged all citizens of Manipur to refrain from taking the law into their own hands and emphasized the importance of peaceful dialogue to resolve the crisis.

“We appeal to all the people to condemn and to prevent this kind of act of agony in the near future,” said Minister Awangbow Newmai.

The NPF’s call for peace and unity comes at a time when tensions are high, and the state remains in the grip of violence.

The party’s renewed support for the state government signals a push for collective efforts to restore stability and address the ongoing crisis.

Earlier, yesterday, the National People’s Party (NPP) which was also a coalition partner of the BJP in Manipur, withdrew support from the N Biren Singh-led government stating that the present Manipur government under the leadership of N Biren Singh has completely failed to resolve the crisis and restore normalcy in the conflict-hit state.

Manipur has once again plunged into chaos after violence broke out on November 7 in Jiribam. Situation escalated on November 16 when the bodies of the six abducted children and women were found – 3 bodies were found floating in the river and three were found inside gunny bags.
