Panic gripped Manipur’s border town Moreh for hours after an abandoned bike suspected to be fitted with explosives was detected near the Key Location Point Checkpost. Security forces soon rushed to the spot after receiving information and cordoned off the area.
Meanwhile, several vehicles along the Imphal-Moreh National Highway were left stranded after movement was halted for security and safety reasons of the commuters.
Bomb disposal squad of the Army was called in to deal with the situation. Additional SP Operation Yumnam Premjit, Commandant and Deputy Commandant of 5 Assam Rifles and also teams of Moreh Police Station and Commandos also swung into action to prevent any further untoward incident.
However, panicked locals as well as commuters stranded along the National Highway heaved a sigh of relief after the bomb disposal squad found no explosives in the bike.
Meanwhile, it was a touching scene indeed as troopers of the 5 Assam Rifles showcased exemplary human gesture as they served food to the stranded passengers along the National Highway, who were anxiously waiting to move after the green signal.
