A day after the declaration of results, Chief Minister N Biren Singh called on Governor La Ganeshan today to tender his resignation.
Biren Singh also informed that the new government will be formed before March 19, which is the concluding day of the state assembly.
Caretaker Chief Minister N. Biren Singh reiterated that the NPP will not be a part of hte new government, while stating that NPF and independent MLAs will be backing the BJP. As far as JD(U) is concerned, N. Biren Singh that the BJP has no understanding with the party at the state level although it is a part of the NDA.
Biren Singh maintained that the BJP parliamentary board will decide on as to who would be the next chief minister of Manipur. He also said that party observers will be deputed to decided on this since the BJP is a big national party.
Meanwhile, NEDA convenor and Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has also confirmed that the NPF will support the BJP in forming the next government in Manipur. The NEDA convenor informed that the NPF has already handed over its letter of support to Manipur Governor. Sarma briefing media in Guwahati said that the future course on the formation of the new BJP government will be decided by the Parliamentary Board.
