Union Home Minister Amit Shah has assured that Manipur’s integrity will not be compromised with. This was informed by Chief Minister N Biren Singh who met HM Shah in Delhi last evening along with 4 of his cabinet colleagues.

Speaking to media persons in Imphal today, CM N Biren said that Union Home Minister Shah has put prime importance on immediate restoration of normalcy in Manipur and appealed all not to organise any rally or protest in the present situation.

CM N Biren Singh has also appealed the CSOs (Civil Society Organisations) in the state to have faith on the government and give it some time to restore normalcy.

CM Singh also informed that HM Shah has sought details of the people affected in the recent violence and assured their resettlement.

The CM appealed to the public not to fall prey to rumours.

The CM further informed that the Union Home Ministry will send a messenger to Manipur to facilitate the restoration of peace and harmony in the state as soon as possible. The Centre has also decided to hold talks with different stakeholders as if like a Peace Mission to bring everything back to the normal and resolve all conflicts.

“Irrespective of caste and community he (Amit Shah) is meeting everyone in Delhi and he is also sending his messenger to the state to connect between the communities, so that at the earliest Manipur can come back to normalcy.”

In a significant statement the Manipur Chief Minister said that the Centre has drawn up some tough measures to reign in militant cadres under the Suspension of Operations in Manipur in the wake of the recent violence that rocked the state.

Adopting what can be termed as a zero tolerance policy towards violation of SoO ground rules, the Centre has directed the arrest of cadres found moving outside their designated camps and seizure of their weapons, highly placed official sources told Northeast Live.

Not only this, surprise checking of camps is also being conducted to verify the cadres and weapons present.

The Centre has also decided not to pay monthly stipend to cadres who are not present in the camps.
Besides, it was also decided that the joint monitoring group meets will be held regularly to warn the SOO groups against violation of ground rules.

Moreover, the government is also appealing to the tribal CSOs to urge the cadres under SOO to return to their camps.

It may be mentioned that Chief Minister N Biren Singh has also informed that the Joint Monitoring Committee consisting of the state and central forces had been taking steps to ensure return of SOO cadres to their designated camps.
