Manipur unrest Day 52: HM Amit Shah advises CM N Biren Singh on how to bring everlasting peace

Ways to bring permanent peace in the violence affected state topped the agenda of the crucial closed door meeting in New Delhi
Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh today met Union Home Minister Amit Shah and held talks on the prevailing situation in the state.
The meeting assumes a lot of significance since it comes amid the buzz for imposition of President’s Rule in the strife torn state and clamour for change of guard in the state.
Soon after the all important meeting the Manipur Chief Minister spoke exclusively to Northeast Live and disclosed as to what transpired in the meeting.
The Manipur Chief Minister said that the Union Home Minister advised N Biren Singh and the state leadership on how to move ahead for bringing peace and normalcy at the earliest.
N Biren Singh also informed the Union Home Minister about the evolving situation in the state.
During his conversation with Northeast Live, N Biren Singh said,”The prevailing situation in the state of Manipur since June 13 no unwanted incidents have happened, there has been no harm to life and property.
Always our union Home Minister is very much concerned about the situation in Manipur. His advice is that more efforts must be given on whatever has been done till now and try to bring everlasting peace.”
The Manipur Chief Minister added that the Union Home Minister has assured all help to the state government as far as restoration of peace is concerned.
N Biren Singh further said,”He advised us thoroughly in detail and I also briefed him as to what is happening and what are the steps taken by the govt for restoration of permanent peace in the state. This was discussed. He guided us on what needs to be done.
We will come back and do as per his advice and we will meet with all the stakeholders.
The process has already started but as per the advice of the Home Minister Shah we will go ahead.”
The Manipur Chief minister also maintained that under Amit Shah’s close supervision, the State and Central government have been able to control the violence to a great extent in the past week.
The meeting of both the leaders comes a day after the Union Home Minister held an all party meeting at the national capital yesterday to discuss the prevailing situation in violence affected Manipur.
Notably, during the meeting yesterday, opposition parties demanded the removal of Biren Singh as the Chief Minister of the conflict-torn state. The opposition parties had also called for the imposition of President’s Rule in Manipur.
