Manipur unrest day 26: COCOMI points out “narco terrorists” angle, seeks govt action to wipe out such elements

By Donald Sairem

The Coordinating Committee on Manipur Integrity (COCOMI) today said that both the Centre and state governments must jointly take necessary and immediate action to wipe out “narco terrorists” from the state as soon as possible. According to the civil society organisation, the present situation is an outcome of the activities carried out by the “narco terrorists”.

The COCOMI leadership said that they would raise this issue with Union Home Minister Amit Shah during his proposed visit to the state. As per inputs, the Union Home minister is likely to arrive in Imphal around 9 pm.

Briefing newspersons, COCOMI executive member Khuraijam Athouba said,”We have also come out with 4 point demands which will put forward to the honourable Home Minister. One very important point is that, the people of Manipur will not be able to come to any kind of solution until and unless the state and the central government take up immediate action to wipe out and uproot the narco terrorists aggressor, those terrorists who are still sitting in the hill tracts surrounding the Manipur valley.”

Athouba calling for necessary action in this regard said, “We appeal with the arrival of the Home Minister that GoI must also take its position on declaring all those narco terrorists, agressors as terrorists act and it should be given a befitting reply.”

The COCOMI leader believes that desperate attempts are being made to derail peace as he said, “it is now quite evident that it was not an act of communal riot rather it was a narco terrorist agression to destabilize the state of Manipur as well as the national security of the country.”
