Manipur police seizes contraband worth Rs 21 lakhs

On further questioning, the driver of the EECO vehicle identified as Jangngam Guite revealed that the contraband was being transferred from Moreh to Pallel.

In a major breakthrough for security forces in Manipur, contraband worth Rupees 21 lakhs in the international market has been recovered.

The 20 Assam Rifles during their routine operation at Vehicle Check Post Khudengthabi on Friday recovered as many as 9 soap cases of suspected brown sugar concealed inside the dashboard of a vehicle.

On further questioning, the driver of the EECO vehicle identified as Jangngam Guite revealed that the contraband was being transferred from Moreh to Pallel.

It is informed that the brown sugar weighed approximately 368 grams and cost about Rupees 21 Lakhs Eighty thousand in the International Market.

Meanwhile, the recovered contraband along with the individual have been handed over to Moreh Police for further investigation.
